Exploratory Writing 4B

Starting off with introducing a new term which was “AFK” meaning away from keyboard was something that is so relatable as of now. Many of our lives revolve around technology and being online. So with that leading to creating pieces of art that are glitched what would glitched art look like in a painting then? Or how would a painter change one of their paintings to become glitched? Would the artist create a piece to look broken and taken apart? Would there be abstract lines and colored hues that match computer monitors? How would people interpret a glitch in art that is not online? Overall I’m curious if any artist has done this and what does their art look like? And what would the conversation between glitched internet art versus real life hands on art be like?

When the article jumps to the statement about our human selves becoming an avatar online and how we might show a photo, use a bitmoji of your avatar to show our human selves. What would a glitchy piece featuring an avatar look like? I feel like many things that are uploaded can be altered, but I don’t ever see a person's social media photo or avatar being altered or a situation where the software cannot seem to upload and produce an image of a person. Would the avatar be screened out or changed? Would the body appear to be separated or did the colors on a monitor alter the hair color? Or does the internet just not accept images of ourselves and the image doesn’t get uploaded? Would that be the glitch, not having a profile photo instead of a wonky photo?

Going off of that point but moving in a slightly different direction. When it was mentioned that a glitch is a failure. When why do we want success so badly? In art there are so many ways to view a piece of art as a success, but what if that mistake the artist made was a failure but turned the piece into a popular piece? How do we view that piece now? Our society is so focused on success that failure isn’t an option but what is being broken and a failure leads you in another direction? Did you break the system? Is this a defect and you have to move on? And who determines that glitch art is unfinished?

Lastly the title of the article says tear it all down, but how can you erase internet art? Is this doable and can be executed? Or does tearing art down mean that this person wants to reimagine the piece and so that is tearing it apart? By altering a piece and reuploading it to the internet is that how this person wants everyone to see images and art online?
