Exploratory Writing 9A

The first online article Rhizomatic Remediation brings light to today’s issues and how these events in time change the way post-internet art is created. Internet art is also an intresting concept because we can track an artist’s work over time and see the evolution. What has changed, what styles are sued and how did that artist grow from certain circumstances? Page five brought up those questions as well as thoughts of mine about how an exhibition can undergo that transformation as well.

The epilogue poses questions about what was normal and what is normal. How did this pandemic help artists or hurt them? What did we take away and gain from the experience? I think that this event in time made museums realize that exhibitions can be put on the internet. Augments and virtual reality are possible and creating an online presence is important for people when they cannot travel or have restrictions based on health. While it was a challenge for many artists it challenged them if they were to survive in this new world and environment. I know that one friend that I look up to launched his website and online store so that people could still purchase his work. And I feel like the internet has had a positive impact on how we view work post-internet. Not has it altered exhibitions and how we view work, but also how we can have a different experience viewing something in-person versus online.

The article focusing on post-internet posted on Artspace brings up if we are or moving towards the post-internet period. Where are we in time and how do we know? Similarly, did we know that we were in the modern art period? What types of internet art were most popular and how do you format files?

Lastly the PDF from Foam Magazine it was interesting to hear what artist had to say about the internet and art mixed. What does that mean to them and how would they categorize their work? How would I even describe my work, I’m not entirely sure myself.
